pick up “拾起，捡起”    动词短语

pick up 还可以表示“(顺便用车)来接”。

例：I‘ll pick you up at five this afternoon.

3. It would take too long.   

take   v.“花费”  

It takes sb. some time to do sth.  

cost   v. “花费 ; 价值为”

Sth. cost(s) (sb.) some money

4. Each student could clean up a bit of the school yard.

a bit of=a little 意为“少数，一点儿”修饰不可数名词。

例：There is a bit of/a little water in the bottle.

瓶子里有一点儿水。

另外，a bit=a little 意为“一点儿”修饰形容词或副词，表示程度轻。

例：It is a bit /a little cold today.
